Overview
This virtual symposium will review the latest in the diagnosis and management of heart failure. A special emphasis will be given to special conditions such as structural heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, infiltrative cardiomyopathies, and cardio-oncology. It will also provide an update on recently published heart failure guidelines, an overview of modalities for treating end-stage heart failure such as mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. Integration of the multidisciplinary team, including palliative care, will also be discussed.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

Implement the most recent ACC/AHA guidelines in the diagnosis and management of heart failure.
Identify the risk factors for the development of chemotherapy-related cardiac disease and discuss current recommendations for treatment.
Recognize special conditions in patients with heart disease including structural heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, cardio-oncology, and infiltrative diseases.
Identify when to refer patients for specialized diagnostics and referral to advanced heart failure specialists and palliative care providers.
Describe the most current modalities for treating end-stage heart failure including left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and heart transplant.
Describe the evaluation of patients with suspected infiltrative cardiomyopathy and implement newly approved pharmacologic therapy for amyloidosis.
Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients with heart failure.
Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with heart failure.
